Did you know that The Quilted Apple is 29 years old this fall? |
Shop Hop is coming…September 21-29, 2007. Have you bought your passport yet? One lucky winner will go home with a new Bernina 230 Patchwork Edition which has a retail value of $1,549.00 (a 20 year warranty, classes and a one-year service check-up is included!) Ten other lucky quilters will win a beautiful quilt kit (which includes batting, backing and binding) from each of the participating shops! Fall is almost here and with it comes the cooler weather and our winter visitors. We will be un-veiling our new Block of the Month in October. I know you are all going to love Tonee’s newest design. Here’s a little hint . . . it’ll be a row quilt with both piecing and appliqué...very cute! Our schedule is filled with many exciting and new classes to share. Tonee’s, Fried Flowers, Pumpkins and Pilgrim’s Pride are not to be missed! Arlene is offering a new Beginning Baltimore Class. Suzy has several new seasonal penny rug classes; and Ginger Sanchez will be here with new penny rug design “Tannenbaum”. Pat Grago is teaching Circling Japan and Prints Charming II and we are welcoming Sandy Bloniarz who will be teaching the cutest miniature punch needle Angel. Donna has very cute dimensional pumpkins in a variety of sizes and will also be teaching the Bow Tucks Tote Class. Elaine’s Star in A Star batik quilt will call to you from across the room. There’s so much to see and do; it’ll be hard to decide which class to take! Have you heard about the Home of the Brave Quilts? This is a statewide effort to make quilts for the families of our Arizona armed forces who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. (There are similar groups forming in each state across the country.) All the Arizona quilts are made using a specific block made with civil war era fabrics. The quilts are all the same size and are actually a replica of the quilts made for soldiers in the civil war. A free pattern is available and we’ve made some kits for those of you who don’t have civil war fabrics. Proceeds from the cost of kits go toward the purchase of batting and backing for these quilts. Please join us and make a block or two for this worthy cause. Hope to see you soon! -Jude
